More Than 54,000 Voices Delivered for Patty

Just weeks after sharing the hopeful news that the Bronx Zoo was considering transferring Patty to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, we are thrilled to report another important milestone.

Thanks to your incredible support, Species Unite has officially delivered more than 54,000 petition signatures to Craig Piper, Interim Executive Vice President for Zoos & Aquariums and Director of the Bronx Zoo, urging the zoo to follow through and give Patty the chance to spend the rest of her life in sanctuary.

In our letter accompanying the petition, we thanked the Bronx Zoo for considering a new future for Patty and expressed our hope that it will continue down that path. After more than five decades in captivity, Patty deserves the opportunity to experience the space, companionship, and peace that every elephant deserves.

The 54,450 signatures we submitted represent tens of thousands of compassionate people who believe Patty's story is not over and that she deserves the chance to live out her final years in peace. Together, we have shown the Bronx Zoo that there is tremendous public support for giving Patty the future she has waited a lifetime to experience.

The momentum for Patty continues to grow, and in the week since we delivered the petition, nearly 10,000 more people have added their names in support of Patty's freedom.

That is why we are keeping this petition active. If the Bronx Zoo does not act quickly, we will submit even more signatures to demonstrate that support for Patty is growing stronger every day.
